Dear Family and Friends,
It is with heavy, yet hopeful hearts that we share the following news about our beautiful baby daughter, Fia Jae* Tritasavit. On Wednesday morning, July 10, 2013, at Kaiser Hospital Redwood City, Venus delivered Fia Jae at 6:08 am. She was born asleep and into the arms of our Savior Jesus Christ.
At 39 weeks and 3 days, her body weighed just 2.86 lbs and was 14 in. long. Earlier in the pregnancy, we had learned that she had a chromosomal condition that prevented her physical body from growing and functioning at full capacity. This condition has potential outcomes of a shortened life span and limited physical and cognitive development.
Since we have had many months to process the possible outcomes, we have been able to mentally, spiritually, and emotionally prepare for this difficult time. Although Fia Jae’s condition prevented her from fully growing, our prayer has always been that Fia Jae would know that that she is FULLY LOVED and FULLY KNOWN by her Heavenly Father and her mommy and daddy.
During the 12 precious hours that we spent with Fia Jae at the hospital, we shed tears of joy and sadness, sang songs of praise and offered prayers of thanksgiving. Accompanied by a nurse who also happened to be a follower of Jesus, we brought her out into the sunlight, where we raised her to heaven as an act of love and worship to God. We also held a private memorial service with a circle of immediate family in our hospital room.
We will continue to rejoice in the midst of pain because God is still on His throne. We hold on to this special promise from God’s Word:
“For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.” 2 Cor 5:1-4
Indeed, it is good that our daughter has been swallowed up by life, not death, for she is now in the presence of her Maker and Creator and the source of life, God HIMSELF!
Thanks again for your constant prayers as we continue grieve with eternal hope.
To God be the Glory,
Pira, Venus, Zeke and Fia Jae*
* Naming Fia Jae: For those who haven’t heard the story about how our baby girl got her unique name, we credit our niece and nephew who, before knowing her actual gender, had already named our baby “Sofia” (Chloe said she would be a girl) and“James” (Cameron was sure he would be a boy). Initially, the names served as stand-ins, but over time, they grew more and more endearing. After learning the gender, we landed on “Fia Jae.” Perfect!
